Since the introduction of Microsoft’s .NET a number of Customers have asked whether an interface could be provided to access the features of this managed code environment. With the introduction of the COM Interoperation facility within the C# language, this interface is possible. The “COM Interop” assembly directive tells the assembler to create a Runtime Callable Wrapper (RCW), this is essential to marshal data between to unmanaged native machine code, generated from a compiler, and managed code of .NET. Using a C++ wrapper to convert string parameters and locate the entry points, ESL can access any interface routine defined within the C# application. As the .NET-managed environment is language neutral, it is possible to access any routine regardless to the language used to create the function. 28th July 2008ESL 8.20 for Windows Vista & Server 2008 is available now.In addition to fixing a few errors we have upgraded the DB2 support to 9.5.
